Writing Style
How would you characterize your writing style? Have you ever used different writing styles? For what purposes?
If you have a chance to improve your writing style, what would you like to change?
Posted by hristova on October 31, 2004 at 12:47 PMHi;
I am not very good at writing but I guess I don't have a boring style. If someday I get the chance to improve my style, the first thing that I'll do will be to improve my vocabulary which I belive is the basis of a nice, fluent writing style.
That's all for now...

I would consider myself as having a passive style. My choice of words aren't really that strong and convincing. I have trouble using the right verbs with the nouns. I've tried making my work interesting by using attention getters and they work occassionally.
If I had chance to improve my writing style, I would need extra assistance on getting my point across to the audience. I have a tendency to get off task and talk about a whole new different topic that doesnt relate to my paper. I'm pretty sporadic and random so sometimes my work doesn't make sense.
Well, that's enough of my jibberish. See everyone in class tomorrow!
Posted by napapon on November 1, 2004 12:15 AMWell, i am not very good at writing and so that probably means i dont have a very good writing style. I have tried using different writing styles for different papers that require different things, but i dont know. I would like to improve my writing style by being able to make my papers flow better and connect better.
Posted by alexis on November 1, 2004 10:18 AMI would consider myself a fairly poor writer overall. I would not really define my writing as one distinct style. However, most of my problems seem to arise from grammar miscues, and no real general flow. A lot of times I get caught up in trying to use sophisticated vocabulary, instead of actually getting the point across. If I had the opportunity to improve my writing style, I would like my papers to be more connective and interesting.
Posted by Rakesh Mehta on November 1, 2004 10:28 AMWhen writing, I usually write in passive voice. I wouldn't consider myself a bad writer, but when I am given a paper to write about, I often summarize first before getting to the actual point. I tend to summarize just in case the writer doesn't know the background information about the subject or the storyline. If I had the opportunity to improve my writing, I would get straight to the point without feeling that I've got an inaedequate paper.
