Final Thoughts on the Class and Paper #4....
Well, first of all not only did this class go by fast, but so did the semester. It seems like just yesterday that I started my first class day of the fall 04' semester. I had so many misconceptions coming into my first day of RHE 306. I thought it would just be another English class, but worse of all it would be based on writing papers. However, as the semester rolled on all my prior misconceptions changed dramatically. RHE 306 thought me that writing about something you feel strongly about does not have to be tedious and boring. Also, as the semester progressed I found out more about myself as a writer; that using big words and sophisticated sentences is not what made a paper great. I learned that presenting the information in an easy to read and straight forward manner could make a good paper. I as a writer have a long way to go to be called anything near "great". I still refer to myself as an overall lousy writer, but this semester has defiantly been a huge step in the positive direction.
Yesterday our group got together to polish up the revisions of paper #4, after about two and half to three good hours of revisions we are pretty much about finished. However, I think we may get together one more time on Tuesday just for a final run through and maybe make some slit changes. I thought this Polices & Fear paper is really beneficial to teach us skills that we may need to utilize in the working environment. Again, I met two new classmates Nancy and Miguel and we were able to share and learn from each others input/ideas.

The Electronic Classroom....
Many of us including myself may have over looked the many benefits to having an electronic classroom. Now that class is over, I look back and realize how beneficial it really was having a computer to access during class. Since, many of our papers were researched based; it was always helpful to me to have access to web at all times to get a lot of research done in class. In addition to being able to have access to the web at all times during class; I think it was really unique to be able to have a blogging system and having the ability to just upload your papers to our own personal bloggs. I'm a really disorganized person, and having loose papers in my backpack can lead to many problems. So, having the ability to just upload the file, without having to print the paper was really helpful. Also, since other classmates are able to access your blogg it was really helpful when some of my classmates could easily proof read my papers. On numerous occasions when I had uploaded my final draft, one my classmates would tell that I had a mistake somewhere in my paper. And, I was able to correct it before noon deadline. All in all the electronic classroom was exceptional and I hope that all RHE 306 classes can experience it.
Deuces,
RM

Group Work.....
Working in groups was probably one of the best parts of the RHE 306 class for me personally. Many may think that working in groups is easier because you as an individual have to do less work. However, for me it was more about the aspect that you can learn and absorb ideas from other people. Not only was I able to share my knowledge and help my group members, but most of all I was able to instill some of there ideas into my work. In addition, as we all know three heads is always better one. Whenever, my group got together to work on the assignment at hand, we never really split up the work. I think that was very beneficial because we were all able to put or input into the paper. When you split up the work essentially one person is writing what they only think, not what the group thinks. Also, when working in a group environment since you have more then one person proof reading the paper, you have fewer mistakes and more participation. Also, one of the major things that not only I, but probably the whole class benefited from was that we were able to get to know our classmates better. For example, on the first paper we wrote I was able to get to know my group members Edgar and Tao very well. Even after the paper we always talked and joked around, we built a relationship which truly personified group work.

A Reflection about Writing....
When I first learned that I would have to take a RHE 306 class, I was very scared and resistant. One of biggest weak points in school has always been the aspect of writing and grammar. In high school I always hated writing papers about abstract topics, because it never sparked any type of thought in my mind and I always felt frustrated to come up with new ideas. Basically I thought that the RHE 306 class in college would just be a carbon copy of high school, with the teacher/instructor telling you what to write about and when it is due. However, this class was totally different, we were able to debate topics and argue our ideas. Though we were given a broad topic to write about, our papers could be about millions of different ideas. And, most of all you could always write about something you felt strongly about. Also, something that I really enjoyed as far as writing papers went, is that idea of peer and instructor revision. Many times when I previously wrote papers and somebody revised it nothing really happened. Your good friend would end up revising it and say "Oh it's really good". And, I would end up turning it in with numerous mistakes. These are just a few of the things that I really enjoyed in RHE 306 as far as writing papers.
