Puzzlement!

Barlow's "Crime and Puzzlement"

To be honest i found this text a little hard to understand. I mean i was able to understand the overall objective of crime and punishment/puzzlement but i found it harder to distinguis barlows views and intensions. I think that his attitudes towards the hackers at first were that they were bad and he even referred to them as "punks." I think toward the middle he was starting to feel a little compassion towards the hackers because he stated,"They have already inflicted on him the worst punishment a nerd can suffer: data death. The was regarding the UNIX situation of Rich Andrews. They were taking away all of the hackers technology, so i guess to a person that hacking is their life it would be death. The Pentagon Papers were secret information that were leaked out by the newspaper. I think that like any thing it was media and news, to be leaked out. I was to distinguish that this happend before just not on the internet. Almost like a hacking of the Pentagon papers (if that makes sense).
