Old/young

Schwartz's "Sorting the Reality from the Virtual"

"When Technology is new, it's percieved as especially frighting" and even subversive, since it tends to baffle adults and appeal to the young." This statement was said by Eric M. Freedman not Schwartz, but Schwarts still put it in his essay. I believe that this might show what John thinks of young and old. It is frightening to the elders but since it appeals to the young, the young come in with a little more of an open mind. They are captivated by it. The old are not ready, they havent seen it before, maybe because it is not apart of their life style. I think that he sees their relationship as that it might be the elders responsibility to show the truth (reality/virtually reality) to the young. By his last statement "If there is no way to establish what is true, we're sunk." he was refering to the reality vs. VR. Im not sure how Schwarts sees the relationship between old/new technology except that it is growing and expanding Fast! I believe that the relationship is that without the old you dont get the new. The new spauns of the old. It is like the Evolution of technology. It will continue to grow.
