Introduction
My name is Linda Nagasaki. I am currently a professor in the extremely under funded Department of Communication at University of Wisconsin. My work focuses mainly on gender, race and technology.
You can usually find me in my office, wrapped in my favorite green cardigan, late into the wee hours. I am usually grading essays, preparing for the upcoming lecture, or working on a presentation that I have been invited to give at some conference. That reminds me of the pile of papers that I need to grade by next week. It's been sitting in the corner of my office collecting dust. I think my students are getting a little impatient with me.
I have short black hair, with a few strands of whites here and there. Although I don’t have a great concern for my body image, I do feel like I should start exercising and take better care of my body. I have been trying to cut down on my caffeine and cigarettes but somehow, I just don’t find those Nicotine gum quite the same.
Even though I think of myself as a witty and sarcastic person, most people tend to see me as someone who is always serious and easily offended. To prove to my co-workers and students that I can loosen up and have fun too, I decided to dress up as a geisha for last year’s Halloween party. It gave everyone quite a laugh.
My inspirations include Lev Manovich and Sandy Stone. Their novel ideas have been ground-breaking and influential in the field of their specialties. I hope that one day my work will reach that status.
