Just an Idea...
Pick up the custom guitar controller and live out your rock-star fantasies -- no matter whether you prefer Ozzy, Queen or Clapton. Game review by Chris Kohler.
Who hasn’t dreamed of being a rock star at some point in their lives? Everyone does it, whether it is in the privacy of your bedroom with a tooth brush as a microphone or on the stage belligerently whaling at some karaoke bar. “Guitar Hero” allows for a person to participate in the career process of a musician. The player must learn to play successively harder music in order to get more gigs, better pay, and better instruments. With the obvious potential to tap into a different gamer base, why hasn’t this been explored further by marketing professionals?
I feel that this market is one that is relatively untapped by the game industry. With the recent success of so many reality television shows and other forms of media that allow the viewer to experience someone else’s “real” life, why aren’t there games that allow them to do this as well? It may sound lame and many people are extremely sick of hearing about these shows as is, but I just do not see how this potential money source has not been tapped by the producers of these shows or game creators.
I could name at least fifteen people who are addicted to at least one reality TV show. Out of those people, at least ten of them are also gamers and may actually be inclined to buy a game that allows them to control the actions of the characters in their favorite reality shows. Given, an extreme amount of care should be taken in order to create a game that is engaging for this potential new breed of gamer, but game creators already have experience doing this through their movie to game creations.
Anyone know of projects in the works to create games of this type?
