Participation game
Unlike Cyberspace (where participation relies on the assistance of electricity), participation in immersion can rely on electrical (movies) to non-electrical environments (books). Immersion is anything that gives the feeling of plunging into another world-to draw all attention and senses toward an interactive environment. It seems that an act of immersion is only successful if the participant has a desire to interact with the environment. For instance, Mr. Heim considers the participant interaction with books, movies, and the deep vision people have with "Magic Eye" games to be immersion. I have no desire to interact with "Magic Eye" games, therefore, I never put effort into the interaction and the act of immersion isn't complete. People can interact in a variety of fashions to comlete the act of immersion with the aid of the senses: sight, smell, hearing, touch, and taste. I believe that the combination of sight, touch, and hearing is the most common (if not popular) way for participants to interact (e.g., TV, movies, video games, computer games, and watching a play at a theatre). In the past few years, I have been immersed by all of the following experiences at college; in fact, a few hours ago, I was immersed while watching the movie The Incredibles at my dorm courtyard.
